DSC_9135.JPG

Welcome to my page. My name is Renaé Dawes, I am a  registered Sports Therapist. I started my business in 2019 whilst I was still studying at university. I studied Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation graduated with a first class BSc honours. I built up my clientele whilst studying and since graduating, I have grown my business and I now work full time with clients.

I aid patients with pain management and injury rehabilitation. Every individual  is different and there isn't one therapy for all.

My goal is to facilitate healing and restore efficient movement and comfort as quickly as possible. I achieve this through proven hands-on techniques, stretch therapy, individualised rehabilitation programs and bespoke treatment plans designed for each patient. I have been a Sports Therapist and Rehabilitator in Essex since 2021, and have developed a reputation as the person to see for treatment and rehabilitation after an injury. PHILOSOPHY

INJURY ASSESSMENT

The evaluation of an injury to determine its severity, the extent of damage, and the appropriate course of treatment. Sessions typically involve a physical examination, medical history review and muscle/ligament testing. The goal is to accurately diagnose the injury and develop an effective treatment plan.

SPORTS MASSAGE

The use a combination of techniques, including deep tissue massage, stretching and joint mobilisation, to help alleviate pain and tension in the muscles. This increases blood flow and reduces inflammation. I target areas of the body that are under stress due to physical activity and can help prevent or manage injuries related to sports and exercise.

REFORMER PILATES

Reformer Pilates is an excellent form of exercise for injury prevention, rehabilitation, and recovery. At the studio we offer 1-2-1 Reformer Pilates sessions.  Reformer Pilates is low-impact, we focus on core strength to stabilise the body and prevent future injuries. We can target specific muscle groups, whilst aiding rehabilitation and gradual strengthening as well as improving flexibility and range of motion. Emphasising alignment and posture, Reformer Pilates reduces strain on the spine and joints, alleviating pain. In 1-2-1 sessions, we tailor exercises to individual injuries, promoting safe rehabilitation and fostering body awareness. Through gradual progression, clients regain strength and mobility, minimising the risk of overexertion or re-injury.

TMJ JAW MASSAGE

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and the surrounding muscles are worked on during this treatment. The temporomandibular joint is the joint that connects your jawbone to your skull and allows you to open and close your mouth, enabling activities such as chewing and talking.

Individuals who suffer from temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) or experience jaw tension, pain, or dysfunction will find a relief from this treatment. TMD can be caused by various factors, including stress, teeth grinding (bruxism), jaw clenching, misalignment of the jaw, or injury to the jaw joint.

SERVICES
STRETCH THERAPY

Stretch therapy is a session where you will be stretched out by the therapist (yes you get to just lay there!), the main aims are to improve range of motion, and overall physical function. During this session we use a combination of static, dynamic, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretches.

We will measure the range of movement available at the start of the session and again at the end to see the improvement made from the session. We can then use these results to create a treatment plan moving forward.

CUPPING THERAPY

Cupping therapy is an alternative medical practice in which cups are placed on the skin to create suction.

Cups are pumped with air to create suction which pulls the skin and underlying tissues into the cup. The suction increases blood flow to the area, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. It is commonly used to treat pain, muscle stiffness, and other musculoskeletal issues.

SCALP MASSAGE

Scalp massage offers numerous benefits, including relaxation, improved circulation, and stress reduction. By stimulating blood flow to the scalp, it can promote healthier hair growth and alleviate headaches by easing muscle tension. Scalp massage also enhances hair health by distributing natural oils, moisturising strands, and stimulating hair follicles. It's a simple yet effective way to detoxify the scalp, remove toxins, and promote overall well-being. This can be added onto any treatment or is available to book as a sole treatment also.

PREGNANCY MASSAGE

Pregnancy massage can be performed in the second trimester of the pregnancy (12+ weeks) right up until the day of labour. It is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety and a perfect treatment to allow you to switch off. We use light pressure all over whilst you lay on your side supported by pillows to keep you and bump comfortable. We work head to toe, finishing with the scalp massage.
